| Religion and
faith in God are very important in my life. In fact, my religion is a
way of living every day. It gives divine purpose to life. Religion helps
me to understand my own nature.
Religion and faith also provide a foundation of truths
to guide my life. I believe that God has revealed Himself and His truths
to man. As a Latter-day Saint, I believe that God has a plan for us. We
refer to this as the Plan of Salvation. My wife and I made the choice to
follow God's plan and to teach our children to follow the plan.
The Plan of Salvation teaches us that we are literally
children of God. We lived with Him prior to birth. Jesus Christ, a Son
of God, is our brother. We are divine in our natures with capacity
to become like Our Father and Our Brother.
The most important religious principle we learn is
FAITH - faith
in God and Jesus Christ. Faith is a principle of action. When we have
faith, we obey God's commandments. We repent. Repentance is the process
by which we change, improve and become more like God, Our Father. Repentance
is possible because of the atonement of Jesus Christ. I believe that
Jesus is the Savior. He took upon Himself the sins of all people, died
upon the cross and became a vicarious sacrifice for all mankind. Through
faith in Him and His atonement, we can can be forgiven for violating
God's commandments or sinning. I hope to use
these pages to share my beliefs regarding God and the principles of my
religion. If you wonder why I would do this, I can only reply that God
has given me a great gift and I want to share it. May
God bless you as you ponder the things of eternity. |
