Gordon B. Hinckley's Testimony

Gordon Bitner Hinckley
Back Home Up
"I know that God our Eternal Father lives, the Father of the spirits of all men. Jesus is the Christ, the Anointed One, the Only Begotten of the Father in the flesh, our Savior and our Redeemer, who gave his life as a vicarious sacrifice for each of us.

"Joseph Smith was and is a prophet. We have a prophet among us at this time. This is the church of Jesus Christ, restored in this dispensation for the blessing of our Father's children."

Live the Gospel: (Conference, October 1984)

We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost' (A of F 1:1).

"This is our primary declaration of faith. We speak unabashedly of the living reality of the Lord Jesus Christ. We declare without equivocation the fact of His great act of Atonement for all mankind. That act brought assurance of universal resurrection and opened the way to exaltation in our Father's kingdom.

"This is the burden of our declaration to the world. It is the substance of our theology. It is the wellspring of our faith. Let no one ever say that we are not Christians."

Our Testimony to the World: (Conference, April 1997)

"Brethren, be strong in your testimony of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He is the chief cornerstone of this great work. Of His divinity and reality I bear solemn witness. He is the Lamb without blemish, who was offered for the sins of the world. Through His pain and because of His suffering I find reconciliation and eternal life. He is my Teacher, my Exemplar, my Friend, and my Savior, whom I love and worship as the Redeemer of the world. In His holy name, amen."
